Starting therapy can be daunting, especially if you are new to it. Therefore, I’ve outlined some information on how I work and what to expect:
What to expect when we start
The first step is a brief complementary initial phone or zoom call lasting approximately 25 minutes, in which we discuss an overview of the issues bringing you to therapy and organising practicalities and a weekly regular session.
Following this, if you decide you would like to work together, your initial 50-minute session will delve into more depth, and begin to gently understand the deeper roots of your struggles. Together, we’ll also shape a direction for the work and return to it as your needs evolve.
How I work
I generally work in a weekly, open-ended way, meaning there’s no set time limit, and we continue until you feel ready to end. I work according to the standard ‘therapeutic hour’, which is 50 minutes.
However, I understand that this may not work for every client. When we have an initial conversation, we can discuss what might work best for you, which might mean fortnightly, ad-hoc, or short term work with a pre-arranged number of sessions.
My approach
Typically psychodynamic therapy is a long-term process, with one session building upon the last. Over time, this leads to progressively deeper insights into your emotions and behaviours, and opening up pathways for lasting change and growth.
Fees
Fees are £60 per 50 minute session.
